How We can reduce our Style changeover time in Garments Industry

What is Style Changeover Time in Garments ?

Style Changeover Time is the time between the last output from Previous style to 1st output of new style.

For Example :   Style- FISSA THONG was running on a line and its last piece was out from line at 10:30:35 PM. Simultaneously, a new Style-ANTHONY BOXER was fed in line, and its first piece reached (passed) output at 14:30:35 PM. This time duration for where there was no output will be called COT  or Style Changeover Time.

What are the main reasons for more Style Changeover Time?

The main reasons for more Style Changeover are -

  • Different Categories product with different specs and requirements
  • The raw materials and their handling mechanism
  • Lack of proper  Skill allocation operation wise
  • Lack of pre-planning and preparation
  • The attitude of middle management.
  • Prolonged machine setting time
  • Lack of  availability of tools for initial machine setting
  • Sudden plan change
  • Supervisor sample not ready
  • Initial quality setting takes a longer time
  • Old style creates a blockage
  • Operator training is given at the time of line feeding
  • No measure of mechanic, technician & operators COT performance
  • Non availability of specialized machines & attachment.

If We can minimize mentioned all problem & barriers hopefully we will be able to reduce our Style Changeover Time.
